Hi Mark,
It appears that the insight installer database instance has failed to install. You can download the 'Insight into insight' tool from the App notes forum, which may give you some insight into what's going on. I would start off trying to create a new database instance, ising the IRDBScriptSQL.exe file, (Found in "C:\Program Files\Inner Range\Insight Installer") ticking the first and third tickboxes - Install new instance, Specify a name. Failing that, I would try and uninstall all IR related database instances, then reinstalling insight from scratch. You can remove the IR database instances by selecting 'Microsoft SQL Server 2005' from the add/remove programs window, ticking 'Remove SQL server 2005 instance components', selecting the appropriate instance, then clicking 'next'. Hope this has been of some use to you. Regards, Hayden. |

Well i got a call from one of my remote clients to delete a card as the person had been sacked and had not returned their card but it looks like my Insight Installer has ******* expired !!!!!
![]() ![]() But i think i missed a few years ( i don't remember being in a coma ) now that its 3/2012 - see attached. This expiry is a right royal pain in the A$$ as i had to drive from Sydney to Nowra to delete one card. 2hours travel time there, 5min on site and 2hours travel time back. All this time and money i'm out of pocket. In this day and age it is not good enough we need this software to support clients i could be wrong but i don't know of any other system out there that the installer software expires. If you are going to have software expire then some process has to be put in place for 24/7 renewal as a security system is not just monday to friday (i can understand initial registration being M-F but renewals could be automated) In short NOT HAPPY JAN !!!! |

Shadow, I suspect that your Insight serial number has changed from your initial installation.
Doing certain things to your computer may change the unique installation generated serial which will require re-registration of your Insight software. You may also need to re-activate other software. eg Windows or Office etc... |

This is a commercial server running MS Server 2003 enterprise edition SP2. This server is dedicated for insight installer. Got a new Lic Key from CSD and it made no difference exect it said expired 6/2012. Shut down and reset machine - no difference. Shut down and install updates - fixed problem (updates where the weekly updates not a Service Pack) re-entered original Lic Key and tested all working ok so it looks like the updates where stuffing something up !!!! Yes but i don't need to re-activate any other security system programming software and you can re-activate Windows or Office 24/7 in an automated process that takes less than 5mins. |

Can anyone give any suggestions for how to solve IRPnlServerInst.exe chewing up 300000K of mem and continually writing to the hard drive after having closed down Insight installer?
Vista. Left it running 2 hours and still was going. Can force it closed or reboot but worried that might corrupt something in the long term. |
